Patriot’s Pen
Inspiring the Next Generation of American Leaders
Through the Patriot’s Pen essay competition, the Veterans of Foreign Wars encourages middle school students to reflect on the values of freedom, democracy, and citizenship. By sharing their thoughts through writing, students develop a deeper appreciation for our nation’s history while honoring the sacrifices of America’s veterans.
Why Patriot’s Pen Matters
Great citizens begin with thoughtful conversations. Patriot’s Pen provides students in grades 6 through 8 with an opportunity to explore what it means to be an American while strengthening their writing, critical thinking, and communication skills. More than a competition, Patriot’s Pen encourages young people to consider the responsibilities of citizenship and the importance of preserving the freedoms we enjoy today.
